REFRACTIVE SURGERY

WHAT IS REFRACTIVE SURGERY?

Refractive surgery is a surgical procedure which rectifies corrective disorders of the eye: myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and also presbyopia. This laser operation is effective, and only lasts a few seconds depending on the different procedures:

Lasik: it is the most practiced elective surgery in the world. The Lasik operation is a surgical procedure that only involves the cornea. It is performed under local anesthesia (anesthetic drops). It is used to correct myopia, presbyopia, astigmatism and hyperopia. Recovery from this technique is very fast.

Supracor: this technique uses the very latest developments in multifocal laser treatments, to operate on presbyopia in particular. It offers an effective and sustainable solution in the long term. With regard to the Lasik, the benefits are the same.

PKR: The PKR or PhotoKeratectomy Refractive, is a laser technique launched at the end of the 80s which corrects and improves myopia and / or astigmatism by modifying the shape of the cornea. It is particularly recommended for people whose cornea is too thin or irregular and / or who practise a combat sport.

IN WHAT INSTANCES IS A LASER PROCEDURE RIGHT FOR ME?

Laser surgery offers many solutions for far vision and near vision. It is a realistic option and a reliable choice: every day thousands of refractive surgery operations are performed around the world. However, in order to confirm that you are eligible, you must undergo a pre Lasik test and an examination by the preoperative ophthalmologist.

Eyesight must have stabilised (generally from 20-21 years old) and both eyes must be healthy, with no underlying pathology.

The ophthalmologist and his team carry out an in-depth preoperative assessment at the clinic in Martigny or Clarens, and then at the dedicated surgical clinic in French-speaking Switzerland, prior to the operation itself. This assessment will evaluate the extent of your visual defect, check for possible contraindications and determine the most suitable technique to use for your particular visual defect and your visual needs, depending on your personal and professional activities.

The CMC Ophta Léman offers you the latest techniques and medical advances. The Centre subscribes to a charter of quality and patient satisfaction. It employs the safest and most commonly used material concerning this technology.

To treat myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism or even presbyopia, CMC Ophta Léman uses the latest laser eye surgery methods.

HOW MUCH DOES A LASER EYE OPERATION COST?

After the preoperative tests, the ophthalmologist will tell you which surgical solution is the right one for your eyes. They will guide you in making the right choice and the one which will bring you complete satisfaction afterwards.

The price of the surgery includes your treatment at the clinic, involving preparation and surgery, but also the postoperative follow-up in the ophthalmology centre.

Laser surgery is an elective procedure. It is not reimbursed by basic health insurance, but insurance companies do routinely offer a reimbursement package for part of the costs.

Call your health insurance provider to find out the reimbursement amount.

Finally THE SOLUTION if you decide to go for a definitive solution and say goodbye to your glasses and contact lenses for good.
